Landscape & Park Beautification - Jan meeting
Wednesday, January 14th, 2026, 6pm to 7:30pm at Friendship Hall
Updates on all projects . . .
1.    General Fall Clean Up - pruning, raking, trash, planting rye grass ?   Tuesday December 16 - complete
2.    Tree Planting Program  - good idea – free or low cost tree programs are available throughout Florida. We could incorporate within small landscape plantings.  We should investigate trees as noise barriers along the property line along 19 in anticipation of increased traffic – anyone want to take this on ??
3.    Upgrade the irrigation system at the Clubhouse from spray to drip – this change would be the final phase to convert all irrigations systems on common property to efficient drip systems. Drip systems use ½” plastic tubing with emitters which slowly drip water and are recommended throughout Florida.  Tom McGregor expressed interest in working on this upgrade. He needs help
4.    Make the pool more of a tropical resort via landscape – related to and would need to come after upgrading the Clubhouse irrigation source.  Anyone want to get started on the design ?
5.    Dog Park refresh - needs a subgroup to research and recommend grass sod or turf, possible additional location, water needs, budget  -
              Bret Peckens and Lisa Nelkin, Lot 29, have agreed to coordinate this effort and have scheduled a meeting to solicit owner feedback on January 7
The group includes Tom and Leanne – Lot 24, Timothy and Jeff – Lot 77, Marilyn Cormier – Lot 36, Lori and M’Lu – Lot 108
Work ticket was submitted to get a water faucet / water supply to the dog park - on hold pending location decision by the Dog Park Refresh group
6.    Area behind the Friendship Hall - help define traffic -  this topic generated substantial discussion relative to the new stone, getting stuck, designated parking, a need for overall design and signage and consideration of handicapped access.  Cathy Foy and I am interested in helping Scott here but could use anyone else interested.
7.    North Storage – NS Owners request for planting along new blocks along door.    Perimeter planting ?     To discuss the gate planting options and access with Burt – maybe transplant existing drought resistant plants we already have in January.  Anyone ?
8.    Dumpster area - need brainstorming for improving the area  Tom McGregor and crew will start by cleaning and have onsite discussion – Tuesday December 16 - complete
9.    Status of mowing the retention ponds ?   Some yes, some no.  Liability of owners mowing – Scott will ask maintenance   Central Retention/Nature Watch pond mowing - complete
10.  Water consumption in the park - what's the scoop ?  Consumption is up 20% in 3 years.  What % is irrigation ?  Flow meters to measure common property irrigation water are on order.  ($100 for two) We can install ourselves early January.  Scott indicated that the BOD may move forward with a new permit request.  Discussion of irrigation of private lots and how to encourage owners to water responsibly.   Education via ARB process ?  Publish water use – see chart below for water use from July of 22 thru Oct 1 2025.  We’ll update at the end of the month and will have accurate numbers for gallonage used by irrigation on common property after we install water meters.

Progressive Cornhole (CLICK to sign up)
Saturday, January 24th, 2026, 11:59am to 4pm at Various lots
Calling all corn hole players and any beginners.
We are going to have a progressive corn hole tournament with the women and men being separate. That also depends on if we get enough of each to sign up and if not we’ll throw everyone together. This tournament will consist of different lots hosting. We will begin at the friendship hall in back at noon and will draw for lots and partners. After each game we’ll all go back to the friendship hall and redraw. This will happen after every game. We will all be using the bags and boards that are on the host lots. We are also looking for host lots and extra boards and bags. With that being said keep in mind that the lots have to be fairly level. I will also be checking out any boards and bag’s being donated for the tournament so as everything can be as fair as possible. Remember that this is a fun tournament for all beginners and good players. We will be charging $5 a person and depending on how many entries we get will depend on prize money. So let’s have fun this winter and enjoy being with all our friends in the park.

Sandy (Sis) & I are hosting a Euchre Tournament.
Please join us for an evening of fun, strategy and friendly competition.
          * Saturday, January 31st
          * 6:30 pm
          * Friendship Hall
          * $5.00 Entry fee
Bring your own beverages and we'll do the munchies.

RULES:

Entry Fee - $5.00 a player.

Picking Partners - Pick a card at the “Entry Table”. There will be 4 - Aces, 4 - Kings, 4 - Queens, etc. The players with the 4 Aces will play at the “Ace” table. The 2 red Aces will be partners and the 2 black Aces will be partners. The players with the 4 Kings will play at the “King” table, etc.

The tables are labeled Ace (Table 1), King (Table 2), Queen (Table 3), Jack (Table 4), 10 (Table 5), etc. If you are playing at the “King” table and you win, the next table you move to will be the “Queen” table.

Once tables and partners are assigned, Player will then flip for first Jack to deal.

Play to “10” or more points.

At the end of the game, the partners with the least points (Losers) stay at that table and become opponents for the next game. The partners with the most points (Winners) get up and move to the next table. Before the winners move to the next table, each partner picks a card. So there will be a Winner-high card and a Winner-low card player and a Loser-high card and a Loser-low card player. When the winners move to the next table the Winner-high card will be partners with the Loser-high card player and the Winner-low card will be partners with the Loser-low card player.

If everyone passes twice and no one makes it, then the deal is thrown in and the next player deals.

A person that plays a “LONER” and takes all five tricks, their team earns 4 points.

If a Euchre occurs during play and Maker fails to take at least 3 tricks, your opponents earn 2 points.

After all games are played the scores will be taken. The winner of the tournament will be determined by the Player with the highest score. If there is a tie, both Players will draw one card each. The Player with the highest card wins.
