WE NEED YOUR HELP !!   The last component of the Nature Watch Project is to install mulch – the pine needles break down to add organics to the soil (yep, pretty much all sand), they trap and holds the moisture and they keep the weeds down.

Our suppliers are NCL owners, Dave and Alicia Shaffer who generously donate the pine straw from their property in Weeki Watchee.  We drive down, we collect the pine needles and load them in a trailer and the back of trucks, we return and spread the pine straw in and around the plants.

This time around, Jerry and Marilyn Cormier have offered the use of their trailer, provided we have someone willing to drive it.  

Friday is expected to be a hi of 65 – so perfect for getting a little bit of exercise.  (Not much exercise -the pine straw is light weight and easy to rake and toss.)

 

Please let me know ASAP if you can either drive the trailer and/or give us a hand with this activity for the Nature Watch.  Knowing who is coming allows us to efficiently get people and vehicles to and from.
